ALL amateur photographers who attend these events are welcome to send photos to the webmaster for inclusion. Music is a prominent part of Market Square's celebrations--Bistro always features two music groups, Pictured above is Still Simple Gifts. Also the Lebanon Valley Alumni Chorale performs. New Year's Eve featured the New Holland Town Band, with MSPC's own Eric Riley on the Market Square organ. CHURCH PICNIC 2011 On Sunday September 18, 2011, Market Square Church held its annual picnic. No need to try to describe in words the good food, the fun and games, and fellowship all in attendance (including dogs) enjoyed. See for yourself as you look at the photos above. GENESIS SUNDAY On Sunday September 11, 2011, Market Square Church continued its tradition of beginning the new church year with the Eaken Trio playing special music, Brahms Trio in C Minor (Op. 101). During the Children's conversation, led b Rev. Kelly Wiant, new Bibles were presented to third graders. Kelly then had them find the 23rd Psalm which they then read together. Rev. Steve Lytch, who has just joined Market Square as Interim Pastor, preached and then administered the sacrament of the Lord's Supper.
FAREWELL to JIM and NINA BROWN CELEBRATION A word of thanks from Jim and Nina Brown here. On Sunday June 26, 2011, MSPC held its celebratory and final service with the Rev. James Brown. Jim's sermon, based on Philippians 4:8-23, was titled "Paid in Full." Following his sermon, Jim received a standing ovation in honor of his fourteen years of ministry to the Market Square Presbyterian Church. Immediately following the service, a celebratory dinner was held at the Hilton Hotel. The planning committee for the dinner, chaired by Carlin Wenger, was essentially the same committee that had searched for and called Jim. Jim and Nina's two sons with their families joined them, as well as Jim's brother and sister, and friends from Thousand Island Park. Each table group was photographed, and people seated at the tables signed a sheet to be placed in the remembrance book. JIM AND NINA--We wish
you a
blessed and enjoyable retirement. SACRAMENT Sunday On Sunday June 12, Market Square celebrated the Sacraments with the baptism of eight individuals--one adult and seven babies--and with communion. The Rev. James Brown preached on the sacraments. His children's conversation gathered children around the baptismal font which they filled with water, including a small amount from the River Jordan. The flowers were donated by Ellie Allen in memory of Heath Allen. Following the service, MSPC held a picnic complete with a farewell cake, as we prepare to say goodbye to Jim and Nina Brown. EASTER 2011 Easter Sunday April 24, 2011, Market Square Presbyterian Church celebrated Easter beginning with a sunrise service along the river. Brass, organ and choir provided special music. Rev. Kelly Wiant shared an ostrich egg with the children. Rev. Jim Brown, along with the other pastoral staff, received new members. See Youth Photos here. |
