(Just off Exit 40B, I-83)

This summer swing into a week of faith-filled VBS fun! Plan to join us for a sky-high adventure into God’s word with a stewardship theme taking care of God’s wondrous creation and each other, too!

Come meet rainforest friends:   Shari the Butterfly, Bill the Toucan, Tad the Frog, Esme the Macaw and Cleo the Monkey. Experience Bible stories through an interactive combination of music, art, science, games, worship and drama in an imaginary Rainforest Canopy.

Vacation Bible School is for children age three through grade five (completed). Registration forms will be mailed in early April. Plan to bring your friends!

Adult and youth volunteers are being recruited to teach, be storytellers, lead games and music, help with crafts and snacks. Please call Cindy Sproat at 257-1280, if you can help.

MSPC At Pride Festival

Once again Market Square Church will participate in the annual Pride Festival along Riverfront Park the weekend of July 25-27, 2008.

On Saturday, July 26, as we did last year, we will have a booth at the event enabling us to tell others of the mission and work of MSPC. Last year many attendees stopped by the booth to thank us for being there, and many took away information on our programs and services. Kari Hultman and Nancy Sheets will be the coordinators for this effort, and several members of the Peacemaking Committee will help staff the table.

We will again host a concert Friday evening, Voices United, consisting of music by three choirs: The Harrisburg Men’s Chorus, The Harrisburg Womyn’s Chorus, and the Spirit Singers of Metropolitan Community Church of the Spirit. Voices United will be held in the sanctuary beginning at 8:00 p.m.

There is something new this year as well: an interfaith service Sunday evening entitled Spirits United, during which worshipers will celebrate the diverse faith traditions of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender folks and their allies. Pastor Jim Brown will participate in this service along with leaders of several other faith traditions. The service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Peacemaking Committee is happy to continue MSPC’s outreach to all God’s children, regardless of sexual orientation or worldly condition of any kind. We hope many of our members will support these weekend events.

Casas por Cristo

A group is headed to El Paso October 18 - 25th in order to build a home for a family in Mexico.  The build will take only three days and no skills are required.  We have eight people signed up so far and would like to add five to seven more.  We will stay in a retreat center in downtown El Paso, enjoy the best Tex-Mex on the planet, explore the beautiful southwest, and build a sturdy home for a family now living in a cardboard shack.

If you would like to join a group from Market Square in building a home in Juarez, Mexico, please call Kelly at 257-1279.
