Special Music Sunday
WE ENTER INTO THE LORD’S PRESENCE
Our service of worship begins at 11 a.m., the time we go “on the air” on AM 960. You are encouraged to use the quiet time before and during the Voluntary for reflection and prayer, as well as to read the Scripture lessons for the day or meditate on the texts of the hymns.
WE APPROACH GOD
OPENING VOLUNTARY
Psalm-Prelude II Herbert Howells
Yea, the darkness is no darkness with Thee, but the night is as clear as the day: the darkness
and light to Thee are both alike. –Ps. 139: 11
*WORDS OF WELCOME AND Call TO WorshiP Psalm 8
Leader: Adonai, Our God, how majestic is your Name in all the earth!
You have placed your glory above the heavens!
People: When we behold your heavens, the work of your fingers,
The moon and the stars which you have set in place—
Who are we that you should be mindful of us?
Who are we that you should care for us?
Leader: You have made us barely less than God,
and crowned us with glory and honor.
People: You have made us responsible
for the works of your hands,
putting all things at our feet—
All sheep and oxen,
yes, even the beasts of the field,
the birds of the air, the fish of the sea
and whatever swims the paths of the seas.
All: Adonai, Our God,
how majestic is your Name in all the earth!
*HYMN 469 Morning Has Broken Augustine
Prayer OF CONFESSION
Most loving and gracious God, forgive us our sins;
those we commit knowingly,
and those we do without perception
of how we have hurt others.
Open our hearts to hear your truth,
to understand our failure,
and to reach a new level of wisdom,
that in all we do and say,
we may bring glory to your name
and love and compassion unto our neighbor.
In Christ’s name we pray. Amen

as members of a single body.
The peace of the Risen Christ be with you.
People: And also with you.

*HYMN God of Creation Herzliebster Jesu
God of creation, We have seen
the horror —
Great devastation, Overwhelming sorrow!
Hear now your people — Homes and loved ones taken-
Feeling forsaken.
Christ of compassion, You who
calmed the rough sea —
Hurricane crashing, We prayed for your mercy!
Comfort your people! Hold them close, now giving
Hope for their living.
Give to your children Food to end their hunger,
Clean water's blessing, News of those they long for!
And by your Spirit, Use our gifts and labors
To help our neighbors

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.
