Festive Sounds: Organ, Brass, and Percussion

Friday, April 12, 7:30 p.m.

Arts on the Square, a series of musical and fine arts events, presents its final concert of the season, “Festive Sounds” on Friday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Market Square Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Second Street, Harrisburg. The concert will highlight the heroic sounds of the J. Nedra Schilling Organ/Orgues Létourneau Opus 136, paired with various combinations of brass and percussion. 

Performers will be organist Tyler A. Canonico, minister of music at Market Square Church, and guests from Messiah University’s faculty and students. Playing trumpet will be Dr. William Stowman; Dr. Erik Forst on marimba; the Messiah University brass choir, percussion ensemble, and the Grantham Brass Project, a student quintet.

Among the highlights of the concert will be Richard Strauss’ Solemn Entry, Simple Song from Bernstein’s Mass, and Mozart’s Rondo alla Turca

A free-will offering will be received. Free parking will be provided by the church in the adjoining Market Square Parking Garage. Enter the church from the first level of the garage or from the Event Entrance on Second Street.
