A Market Square Welcome!

 

Welcome to the online home of Market Square Presbyterian Church in downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  We are glad you have found us on the web.  We would even be happier to welcome you in person. Though contemporary society and the media often are not complimentary of organized religion, Market Square isn’t anything like the caricatures people often have of “church.”  Of the last one hundred people who joined Market Square, the vast majority of them said it was our Mission Statement that first attracted them. But discovering it all is true was what caused them to want to become a part of a church like this one.

 

We value tradition at Market Square but also embrace and encourage fresh expressions of our Christian faith.  Rooted in worship with its thoughtful, practical sermons and outstanding music, Market Square also is deeply committed to service in the communities and larger world around us.  Our church is known for its ministries with homeless and transient persons, advocacy for refugees and immigrants, wide variety of peacemaking and social justice endeavors, broad embrace of the LGBTQ+ community, hospitality to community groups, Korean language ministry, earthcare and environmental initiatives, and the conviviality of the congregation. Regardless of status, stature, or standing, we will welcome you here.  

 

If you are new to Market Square, we invite you to spend some time on this website as our way of introducing ourselves to you. Then, if you reside near Harrisburg (we have folks in our congregation from York, Lancaster, Carlisle, Newville, McAlisterville, and Duncannon in addition to Harrisburg and environs), we hope you will introduce yourself to us by coming to visit us in person.
